As a lifelong fan of Kanye, I was beyond thrilled when I logged on to Instagram yesterday morning to find out that he had recently become an official billionaire. It came as a shock to many, especially because just a few years ago he was reportedly $53 million in debt. This news branches off of the announcement last year that Jay-Z was hip hop’s first billionaire. Although reports by Forbes and Bloomberg put his net worth somewhere around $1.3 billion, some estimates put it as high as $3.2 billion, making him the richest artist in history. Kanye has made investments as questionable as some of his tweets, but they seem to be paying off. He owns 100% of his music, and approximately 11% of his greatest profit-maker, design company Yeezy (of which he started from the ground up). Other assets include a staggering amount of real estate (like his 8,113 acre ranch in Wyoming) and shares in social media start-ups like TikTok.
